Data Literacy and Analytics for the 21st Centurey - CA179

School of Computing, Dublin City University, Ireland

2022/23 Semester 1 and Semester 2

The module is designed as a suite of micro-curricula by carefully combining seven topics that were identified by the DCU Futures transversal skills internal working group, nominated colleagues from Futures programmes with expertise in data analytics, expert panels, and industry partners.

This module equips students with the knowledge and skillset of Data Literacy and Analytics required in the 21st century. It enables students to gain the capability to collect, process, critique, analyse, visualise, and interpret data in an unbiased, responsible, actionable and ethical manner. It further helps students to develop the ability to use tools and techniques to efficiently understand, interpret, and use data in their particular discipline.

Introduction to Database Systems - CA218

School of Computing, Dublin City University, Ireland

2021/22 Semester 1. and 2022/23 Semester 2

The aim of this module is to provide students with an introduction to and an overview of database systems including database design, entity Relationship data modelling, the relational model of data and SQL, as well as an overview of some database products.

Introduction to Programming - CA146/CA297

School of Computing, Dublin City University, Ireland

2020/21 Semester 2.

This module introduces students the basics of programming including variables, control flow (branching, repetition), functions, and files. Students learn to write their own programs using Python by following lectures and several lab tasks demonstrating each topic.

Algorithms and Advanced Programming

School of Computing, NCI, Ireland

2020/21 Semester 2 and semester 3

Algorithms and advanced programming covers advanced concepts including algorithm analysis, multi-threading, exception handling, data sanitisation and advanced file manipulation. This module is delivered using Java.
